These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Eternal Rift Defense, the website EternalRiftDefense.com, online services, multiplayer features, chat features, Steam-connected features, Discord voice features, in-game purchases, and related services operated by MagmaBear Games LLC (“MagmaBear Games,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By installing, accessing, testing, or playing Eternal Rift Defense, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access or use the game or related services.

1. About Eternal Rift Defense

Eternal Rift Defense is a video game developed and operated by MagmaBear Games LLC. The game is currently in internal testing and may contain bugs, unfinished features, balance issues, temporary content, downtime, or progress resets.

The game includes both offline single-player features and online multiplayer features. Multiplayer features require an internet connection, Steam login, and access to our online services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Eternal Rift Defense. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the game with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

By using the game, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you are allowed to agree to these Terms.

3. Steam Account and Third-Party Services

Eternal Rift Defense launches through Steam and uses Steam login services. Your use of Steam is governed by Valve’s Steam Subscriber Agreement, Steam privacy policy, Steam refund rules, and other applicable Steam terms.

The game may also use Discord software development kit features for optional in-game voice communication. Your use of Discord-related features may be governed by Discord’s own terms, developer policies, and privacy policy.

We are not responsible for Steam, Discord, Valve, or Discord Inc. services, accounts, outages, policies, enforcement decisions, or payment processing.

4. Game License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and play Eternal Rift Defense for personal entertainment purposes.

You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer, distribute, host, modify, exploit, or commercially use the game except as expressly allowed by these Terms or by written permission from MagmaBear Games LLC.

5. Internal Testing and Pre-Release Access

Because Eternal Rift Defense is currently in internal testing, you understand and agree that:

features may be incomplete, unstable, or unavailable;
servers may be taken offline without notice;
characters, items, currencies, progression, leaderboards, achievements, guilds, parties, names, rankings, and other data may be reset, modified, or deleted;
balance, rewards, prices, abilities, enemies, items, and systems may change;
access to testing branches, builds, or servers may be limited, revoked, or changed at any time.

Testing access does not guarantee permanent access, final game access, future rewards, or preservation of progress.

6. Offline and Online Features

Some parts of Eternal Rift Defense may be playable offline. Online features, including multiplayer, progression synchronization, leaderboards, guilds, party systems, social features, purchases, achievements, moderation, and server-authoritative gameplay, require an internet connection and access to our servers.

We do not guarantee that online services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

7. Player Conduct

You agree not to use Eternal Rift Defense or its services to:

harass, threaten, stalk, abuse, defame, or target other players;
use hate speech, discriminatory language, sexually explicit content, or violent threats;
impersonate another person, developer, moderator, administrator, or company;
share personal information about another person without permission;
spam, scam, advertise, or solicit other users;
interfere with the game, servers, matchmaking, chat, guilds, economy, leaderboards, or other systems;
exploit bugs, duplicate items, abuse matchmaking, manipulate rankings, or intentionally disrupt gameplay;
use cheats, bots, scripts, automation, memory editing, packet manipulation, unauthorized overlays, unauthorized third-party tools, or other unfair advantages;
attempt to bypass bans, mutes, suspensions, region restrictions, rate limits, or security protections;
access, probe, attack, overload, or interfere with our servers, APIs, databases, infrastructure, or security systems;
violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party platform rule.

8. Chat, Guilds, Parties, Whispers, and Social Features

Eternal Rift Defense may include overworld chat, rift chat, party chat, private whisper chat, guild chat, guild membership, and party membership.

You are responsible for what you say and do in these features. We may review, filter, moderate, remove, restrict, or retain communications as needed for safety, security, abuse prevention, moderation, legal compliance, or operation of the game.

We may mute, suspend, ban, rename, disband, restrict, or remove players, guilds, parties, names, chat messages, or other social content that violates these Terms or harms the game community.

9. Voice Communication

Eternal Rift Defense may offer optional voice communication through Discord SDK features. We do not record, store, or route player voice audio through our servers.

Voice communication may depend on Discord’s services, software, accounts, availability, permissions, and policies. Discord is responsible for Discord services. We are not responsible for Discord outages, account actions, or policy decisions.

You must not use voice features to harass, threaten, abuse, exploit, or violate the rights of others.

10. Server-Authoritative Gameplay and Cheating

Eternal Rift Defense uses server-authoritative multiplayer systems and server-side validation to help detect cheating, exploits, abuse, and unfair play.

We may monitor gameplay, transactions, progression, match results, chat, account activity, server requests, and related data for security, fairness, and abuse prevention.

If we believe you cheated, exploited, manipulated data, abused systems, or violated these Terms, we may take action including warnings, mutes, suspensions, bans, progression resets, item removals, currency removals, leaderboard removals, guild restrictions, account restrictions, or permanent loss of access to online features.

11. Purchases, Virtual Items, and Steam Payments

Eternal Rift Defense may have an upfront purchase price and may offer in-game purchases through Steam, including virtual currency, items, cosmetics, content, or other entitlements.

Purchases made through Steam are processed by Steam, not directly by MagmaBear Games LLC. We do not collect or store your payment card or billing information.

Virtual items, currencies, unlocks, entitlements, and digital content are licensed, not sold. They have no real-world cash value, are not property, and may not be sold, traded, transferred, redeemed for money, or exchanged outside systems we expressly authorize.

We may modify, rebalance, remove, disable, rename, replace, or reset virtual items, currencies, abilities, rewards, and entitlements where needed for testing, balance, security, economy health, legal compliance, or game operation.

12. Refunds

Purchases made through Steam are subject to Steam’s refund rules and processes. Refund requests should be submitted through Steam.

MagmaBear Games LLC does not control Steam’s refund decisions, timelines, payment methods, or eligibility requirements.

13. Mods, Private Servers, Bots, and Unauthorized Tools

Mods, private servers, unauthorized server emulators, bots, automation tools, cheats, memory editors, packet manipulation tools, unauthorized clients, unauthorized launchers, and similar tools are prohibited unless we give specific written permission.

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, scrape, intercept, emulate, or interfere with the game client, servers, APIs, protocols, databases, matchmaking, progression systems, purchase systems, or security systems except where applicable law expressly allows it.

14. User Content

“User Content” includes player names, character names, guild names, chat messages, whispers, reports, support messages, feedback, and other content you submit or communicate through the game or to us.

You keep any rights you have in your User Content, but you grant MagmaBear Games LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, moderate, remove, reproduce, and use that User Content as needed to operate, secure, improve, moderate, and support Eternal Rift Defense.

You represent that your User Content does not violate the law, violate another person’s rights, or violate these Terms.

15. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, bug reports, balance ideas, feature ideas, or other comments, you allow us to use them without compensation or obligation to you. We may use, modify, or ignore feedback at our discretion.

16. Intellectual Property

Eternal Rift Defense, including its software, code, artwork, characters, designs, systems, names, logos, music, sound effects, game mechanics, user interface, text, website content, and related materials, is owned by MagmaBear Games LLC or its licensors, except for third-party materials used under applicable licenses.

The game was developed with the Godot Engine. Godot Engine is free and open-source software under the MIT license. Godot is not responsible for Eternal Rift Defense or our services.

Some development work, assets, text, code, concepts, or production workflows may have been assisted by artificial intelligence tools. Unless otherwise stated, MagmaBear Games LLC owns or licenses the content it provides in Eternal Rift Defense.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Eternal Rift Defense or our intellectual property to you.

17. Streaming and Videos

You may stream, record, screenshot, share, and monetize videos of your gameplay of Eternal Rift Defense, including on platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and similar services, as long as you follow these Terms and do not imply that MagmaBear Games LLC sponsors or endorses your content unless we have agreed in writing.

This permission does not allow you to use our content in a way that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, pornographic, hateful, exploitative, or harmful to the game or its community.

18. Support and Ban Appeals

We may review appeals at our discretion. We are not required to reverse moderation decisions, provide detailed evidence, or continue communicating with users who abuse the appeal process.

19. Service Changes and Availability

We may update, patch, modify, suspend, disable, discontinue, or remove any part of Eternal Rift Defense or its services at any time. This includes features, servers, modes, items, currencies, rewards, prices, progression, balance, events, and testing access.

We may perform maintenance, emergency shutdowns, hotfixes, rollbacks, wipes, or server changes without advance notice.

20. Termination

You may stop using Eternal Rift Defense at any time.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the game, online services, chat, multiplayer, guilds, parties, purchases, or other features if we believe you violated these Terms, harmed the game or community, created legal risk, abused support, cheated, exploited, or threatened the security or integrity of our services.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, license limits, disclaimers, limitation of liability, dispute terms, and payment-related provisions.

21. Disclaimers

Eternal Rift Defense and its services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent allowed by law, MagmaBear Games LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, accuracy, security, and error-free performance.

We do not guarantee that the game will be bug-free, secure, uninterrupted, compatible with every system, available in every region, or free from data loss.

22. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, MagmaBear Games LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost progression, loss of goodwill, service interruptions, computer issues, account actions, or inability to access the game.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to Eternal Rift Defense or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

the amount you paid to MagmaBear Games LLC for Eternal Rift Defense-related purchases in the six months before the claim, or
$100 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

23. Indemnification

To the maximum extent allowed by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MagmaBear Games LLC from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, misuse of the game, cheating, unlawful conduct, User Content, or violation of another person’s rights.

24. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Where allowed by law, disputes related to these Terms or Eternal Rift Defense will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington. This does not limit any consumer rights you may have under the laws of the place where you live.

25. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the game, on our website, through Steam, or by other reasonable means.

Your continued use of Eternal Rift Defense after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
